What is a Federal Firearms License (FFL)?

FFL stands for Federal Firearms License – ownership of one allows an individual or company to engage in the manufacture of firearms and ammunition and allows for the interstate and intrastate sales of firearms.

Holding a Federal Firearms License to participate in these activities has been the law since the Gun Control Act of 1968. FFLs range from a Type 1 (run of the mill dealer or gunsmith) to a Type 11 (importer of just about anything destructive or gun-related).

Did you know that this Seattle gun buyer holds an FFL? If you have questions about licensing, are looking to sell your guns in Seattle, Everett, Marysville, Mukilteo, or Shoreline, or would like to request a transfer, give us a call or shoot us an email.
